THE ROLE OF FULANI RADIO IN RESOLVING HERDSMEN-FARMERS CRISIS IN NIGERIA
ABSTRACT: This study was carried out on the role of Fulani radio in resolving herdsmen farmers’ crisis in Nigeria using Koode Radio International, Abuja as a case study. To achieve this, thee significant research objectives were formulated. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprises of presenters/staff of Koode Radio International, Abuja. In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 33 respondents while 30 were received and validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables and mean scores. While the hypotheses were tested using chi-square statistical tool. The result of the findings reveals that Fulani Radio is not effective in resolving farmers-herders’ crises in Nigeria. The findings also revealed that Fulani Radio have no positive impact on Farmers Herders crises. In regard to the findings, the study recommends that hard to reach areas can benefit from programmes of community radio broadcasting. Hence, agencies and relevant stakeholders should ensure that broadcast programs designed for and targeted at rural communities get to these target audiences; and Radio media practitioners should consider public interest by being truthful and factual as well as avoid provocative or malicious language.
